3. What’s new.
In Malaysia, Camping has a long-held tradition. Schools, boys scouts and many other associations have promoted camping activities for years. This has slowly evolved from using tents to homemade camper vans, and many have started importing motorhomes and caravans. Unfortunately, most Campgrounds in Malaysia have not been developed to absorb this massive trend and often miss great opportunities.
This is a fast-growing trend and one of the fastest-growing industries worldwide. Unfortunately, Malaysia is still at its early stage, and government rules and regulation has yet to pace with this significant trend and industry.
In tandem with the coronavirus pandemic, this industry has seen a rising trend. In Europe, the USA, Australia, and New Zealand, there is a minimum of a one-year waiting list for new camping buyers. The reason being is that people understand that camping is the safest way to travel. Besides that, local tourism is booming because borders are closed. People can finally travel and discover their countries to go to rural areas that they have never travelled to before.
The significant advantage is getting back to nature in this fast-paced society. Less pollution. The money spent goes to local communities instead of big international conglomerate hotels where the funds leave the country to investor countries. You can help to create jobs in local rural areas.
